Who we are
Well Surge Technologies LLC (WEST LLC) is a family-run company with the goal of getting this innovative, common-sense, and exceedingly cost-effective EOR technology into the spotlight.
Emmet Brieger is a veteran of the oil service industry, with years of experience as a corporate well services engineer, design head, and inventor and as a private well services consultant. Having spent the bulk of his career at Schlumberger Well Services in Houston, TX, he left the congestion of Houston for the open skies of New Mexico in the late 1970’s, where for a time he ran an Albuquerque branch of Geo Vann (as it was known at the time) for Roy Vann. Brieger’s collaboration with Roy Vann was critical to the development of WEST LLC’s well surge technology; Vann developed tubing-conveyed perforating, a practice that has become a worldwide standard and, not coincidentally, surges a well (at completion).
From the lab tests at Schlumberger to the work with tubing-conveyed perforating for well completions, his experiences led Emmet Brieger to develop the unique through-tubing, pressure-actuated approach, which greatly facilitates well surge technology for existing wells and simplifies tertiary oil recovery in consolidated formations.
Leesa Brieger is a computational scientist who has worked in research labs in the United States and Europe, including EPFL, Switzerland; CRS4, Italy; the San Diego Supercomputer Center (SDSC), UC-San Diego; and the Renaissance Computing Institute (RENCI), UNC-Chapel Hill. Her experience includes computational methods and mathematical modeling, user support in computational research, and digital data management. |
Well Surge Technologies, LLC has been established to market these simple yet innovative techniques for flow optimization, finally allowing existing wells in consolidated formations to flow at capacity—and all without costly, potentially toxic operations.
